Contraband is a suspense thriller that's a bit short on suspense, but it's entertaining none the less. The story follows a former smuggler that has to do one last run in order to save his family from a gangster.
The cast is pretty good and includes Mark Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Giovanni Bibisi, and J.K. Simmons; each of whom gives a strong performance. The story has some well-crafted mystery to it, and the smuggling job itself is rather interesting.
There are problems with the film, but overall Contraband is an engaging thriller.
