Review of Continental Divide (1981) by Brian W — 23 May 2011
A very cute movie. It is, in the most technical sense- a romantic comedy. But this has a level of sincerity that most Rom-coms lack. It doesn't seem overly romanticized. And it does not throw jokes or gags out like fish to seal either like a lot of Romantic Comedies do.
It is just a sweet story. As far as rom-coms go, this is the fresh, fun diamond in the sickening formulaic goofy rough. It is genuinely sweet, and has good humor in it, but they don't try to beat you over the head with either of those elements.
Both are slipped to you in a pleasing way.
