Review of Contagion (2011) by Abdulbasit S — 08 Sep 2012
Many movies that have diseased centered plots leave a lot to be desired. But this movie definitely left those other movies in the trail. This movie is full of great performances and has, at its core, a talented direction.
The cast in this movie astounded me. It has one of the best casts I've ever seen. And I saw it more as a horror movie than a suspense/thriller. Laurence Fishburne and Kate Winslet gave some of the best performances I'd seen them give in a long time.
Everyone else was great too. The plot was knitted together so finely, it has such a lasting impact by the time it was over. Though the movie does sort of drag toward the middle, it plays it up at the very end.
Soderbergh had directed only a few good movies in my opinion. But this is definitely one of his best.
