Review of Contagion (2011) by Kristi M — 08 Sep 2013
This felt more like a documentary than a movie- although it's fiction it blasts through the process of how government officials and scientists battle with a disease that's killing people exponentially faster than they can come up with a cure.
They don't want to cause panic and don't want to say they have a cure that they don't so they try to pacify the general public until finally it's goes full on anarchy, mainly propelled by a blogger who pretends to be sick and then claiming that he found a homeopathic false cure that went "viral" on the internet so that he can profit from it.
This movie isn't intended to give any type of satisfaction in regards to everyone getting cured or everyone turning into a zombie (thankfully, how many more zombie movies do we need?) Instead, it's almost cautionary even though things like it can't be prevented so that seems to have left a lot of viewers unsatisfied when it ended.
It definitely leaves you feeling like investing in some extra Lysol and hand sanitizer.
