"I'm travelin' at the speed of light!" to quote Freddie Mercury in one of his songs. I'd say no - Jodie Foster was. "Contact " is one of the greatest science fiction movies to date, next to old time greats, "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind".
It has poetry and music in time in the convenience of the vast space it harmonizes.
