Review of Contact (1997) by Christopher L — 22 May 2009
Although it departed from the book in several places, I really think this movie captured its spirit. Jodie Foster does a great job in this movie, and although the ending might be a little disappointing in some respects, it is generally good the whole way through.
There are more interesting overtones in the movie than in the book with the idea of faith and science, and there are some more interesting overtones about the future development of mankind in the book than in the movie.
But a good movie, and still one of my favorites of the science-idealism camp.
