Review of Contact (1997) by Burcu S — 29 Dec 2010
Boring!Boring!BORING! This movie was those three words. The debates being stupid and not logical, the accents extremely annoying, and the romance extraordinarily ridiculous beyond belief. Although many critics say the opening to be wonderful I found it very ordinary and(although unique) not very entertaining at all. Thank god I didn't see this in the movie theaters (I have netflix) because I would've either gone to sleep or snuck into another movie, half way through. This isn't only extremely boring, it really isn't logical, they create a machine at the end of the movie that pretty much gives them the right to do anything and say that it happened with OK special effects.
On to the romance was fully forced, the author(which she sleeps with, the main character) rises to amazing stardom to quickly and extremely unrealistically giving him the right to do anything at anytime. I'll be frank I just watched "Full Metal Jacket"(which is a masterpiece of a film) and then I watch this bullshit and I think to myself: Don't go to sleep. Don't go to sleep don't go to sleep." This is a humiliation for all realistic sci-fi films, ever.
