Review of Contact (1997) by Paula G — 09 Jan 2011
One of the most intense movies I've seen in a long time. It has some defects; for instance, the romantic feeling of the movie isn't really inspired to many watchers.. It's just something extra. I didn't really feel that "connection" between Foster and McConaughey. The length of the movie makes it many times boring, and some parts were just useless, and should be considered for deletion. On the other hand, the effects were delightful, as well as pleasing to the eye. The performance of Jodie Foster was simply brilliant, and very believable. Matthew McConaughey also proved his capability of being a great actor without forming part of an overrated, and excessively clichéd romantic comedy.
I would dare say that the effects, and the highly controversial topic of this movie both compensate for some errors in the plot. The effects were simply amazing, and the idea of expressing the duality of human beings made the movie even more shocking, and interesting to watch. This movie makes us question ourselves, shall we believe in science or faith?
