One of the best science fiction movies out there, and the best thing about it is it's subtlety. It delves more into the possibility and the internal consequences of contacting an alien culture, than the actual meeting of said aliens.
Jodie Foster delivers a powerful emotional performance as the obsessive scientist hell-bent on discovering life outside of our own planet in this wonderful adaptation of the book by Carl Sagan. Tom Skerritt and James Woods, as well as Matt McConaughey co-star in this must see film.
