Review of Contact (1997) by Garrett ! — 02 May 2011
An entertaining work with something of a thoughtful core to it, particularly where the inevitable conflict between science and religion. That being said, the main point I drew from this is the idea that if aliens contact us, our first reaction is to be as stupid about it as possible.
How very...human. Unfortunately, the dialogue can be quite weak, and the movie never really passes the stage of semi-preachy effects piece. The ending was especially irritating, as Jodie Foster's character rarely knows when to shut up and let us enjoy the movie.
