Review of Contact (1997) by Marcelo C — 07 Nov 2012
Interesting and fascinating Science-Fiction drama that was extremely underrated, when it first came out. Some major film critics hated it and some audiences were extremely disappointed with the film's third act.
It is a thought-provoking film with a superb Jodie Foster in the lead. Am ambitious scientist researcher, who believes more in science. Since she doesn't have any faith in god, after the unexpected death of her father (David Morse) as a child.
The movie truly takes its time following the lead character. The movie has its surprisingly politcal subject matter about Science Vs. Faith. Perphas a bit too long but strong direction by Robert Zemeckis and Foster's dynamic role keeps it together.
There is strong supporting performances by Matthew McConaughey, James Woods (Usually a scene stealer in every movie, he has been), Tom Skerritt, John Hurt, William Fichtner, Jake Busey and Angela Bassett.
Blu-ray has an excellent video transfer, despite some truly dated CGI shots and the Dolby 5.1 Tru HD is strong. The Blu-ray has all the special features from the DVD.
