Review of Constantine (2005) by Paul P — 23 Jul 2010
There are an abundance of good ideas in this film, they just don't come together to make a decent film.
The core of the story is actually pretty interesting but the character of John Cionstantine is poorly developed. That leaves a lot for Keanu and whilst he is watchable, the only thing I can remember about him is the constant smoking of cigarettes and the flicking of his lighter. That's it. Rachel Weisz has nothing to do, Shia is pretty much non existant inthe film and when Peter Stormare turns up towards the end, he adds some entertainment value by the virtue of his awful performance.
Poor storytelling and character development prevent this film from being a potentially good one.
