Review of Constantine (2005) by Michael P — 05 Jun 2012
Haven't seen this in a while (and fell asleep the last time, which doesn't bode well...) and don't remember it, so time to watch it again. I enjoyed it a lot more this time around. Some awesome special effects, especially for the time, and some brilliant ideas (the holy water sprinkler system was genius).
This film is definitely style over substance...and I found that I missed a lot of what was said...(Wait..was that important?..) May take another viewing to truly 'get it' :) Keanu is as wooden as ever, but it only shows in the parts where he actually needs to 'act'.
Far more fun is had by the supporting cast...Tilda Swinton, very androgynous as Gabriel...and an excellent Peter Stormare as Lucifer. Not too bad all round.
