Review of Constantine (2005) by Jacob M — 08 Dec 2012
I feel that Constantine delivers everything it was asked to deliver, and with a little extra. It lives up to the expectations that the intersting plot line and cast of many familiar faces creates. It may not do it extrodinarily but it does it with enough power to leave the audience satisfied and maybe even wanting more.
It goes off with a boom, I must say. It stays on task and sticks to its genre and keeps its promise for the angels and demons movie that many people went to see. Although it is a bit slow at the beginning it just gets better and better as the movie progresses and the end is just.
..awesome! This is not a film that peaks early to any extent, it goes up a steep hill then drops and it is thrilling. It hammers home it's promises and reaches the expectations that were given to it by the fans of the graphic novel and movie fans altogether (even with the somewhat low RT score).
It does lack that emotional touch, but it makes up for it with cool stylistic choices and special effects (hell looks amazing) and it has a clevor touch to it too (just watch Keanu giving the finger to Satan).
It is a well made movie with a few flaws but in all, I liked it.
