Review of Constantine (2005) by C T — 12 Jan 2014
As far as angels and demons movies go, "Constantine" is definitely memorable to say the least. Keanu Reeves' deadpan acting style actually works in his role as exorcist John Constantine, a chain smoker condemned to Hell for taking his own life as a teen.
Constantine's callous attitude and jaded outlook on a world inhabited by angels and demons includes extremely subtle moments of emotion and growth, such roles in which Reeves shines. A female lead who can actually hold her own adds depth and substance to a dark and hellish film, as well as adds more to the character of John Constantine.
A new and interesting take on the war between Heaven and Hell--with Earth caught in the middle--do not be fooled by the critiques; "Constantine" is a diamond in the rough.
