Review of Constantine (2005) by Rotten T — 18 Jun 2011
Adapted from the "Hellblazer" comic series, Constantine sure delivers an ominous perspective of the life of Constantine, the crucifix-shotgun wielding exorcist. Doomed to hell, Constantine exorcises demons as an attempt to win back God and an everlasting life in heaven.
The story brings us to the underground world of sorcery and the darker side of religion, portraying a haunting overtone of mystery and wonder. Keanu Reeves is excellent as the constantly smoking, in-your-face Constantine, but it strays away from the original source material, the actual graphic novel.
That aside, Constantine is still an enjoyable Gothic film of demons, angels, and the occult.
