OK, I have been watching a few DVDs that I borrowed from the library. I enjoyed 2 of the 4 movies I borrowed. (See my ranting about The Mothman Prophecies below). I guess I'll start with the ones I liked least and finish with the one I enjoyed most.

The Butterfly Effect was merely ok. I'm pretty much convinced that Ashton Kutcher is NEVER going to make a decent movie based on the few pieces of crap that I have seen with him in it. I barely survived "Just Married" and I would rate it higher than this waste of film. He gets the roles because he is considered "cute" (why, don't know, he does nothing for me) or because he is Demi Moore's boy toy. Who cares?!? Anyway, the movie had a good premise. It was just poorly executed and very hard to follow what is going on. Kutcher can't act for anything. Amy Smart has been better in other roles and the kid that played her brother in the flashbacks was just creepy (and possibly the highlight of the movie). I think it really could have been a good movie if it was directed differently and had a cast that had a chemistry. There was NO chemistry between the actors and it was painful to watch. I would have liked a little more backstory with the father that was in the asylum. Oh well, I know now not to watch it again.

The Prince & Me was cute. I'm not entirely sure that I liked the ending, but the one they went with was much more satisfying than the alternate. I'm a sucker for the "girly date movies" and this one was exactly what it was supposed to be. Fun and Fluff. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Connie and Carla was hysterical. OK, so it is a little farfetched for a couple women with a bad nightclub act to be pursued across the country by murderers. And that the same 2 women would pass as drag queens in a gay club. The make-up was really good for their "drag" transformation. The music was cliche' but quite enjoyable for me as I really like musicals. I thought the costumes were really good for the drag show sequences. I would easily pay to see a drag show with the production quality that these had. And to see Debbie Reynolds having such a good time was well worth it. She is really quite good. Basically, I just had a blast watching this. And just for the record, I am a straight woman, not a gay man, and I really enjoy drag queens and drag shows. (If you like Connie and Carla, check out To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar and Priscilla, Queen of the Desert).

I'll be going back to the library tomorrow to pick up a few more movies. Hopefully, I will come across some more good ones.
