Review of Congo (1972) by Lee M — 05 Sep 2007
I love this film and here's why: (no particular order).
1. It's Africa. I've dreamt of going on safari ever since I was 5 years old. Any films that include Africa are okay in my book.
2. Jerry Goldsmith's musical score is perfect for the film. (except for the kids singing in English during the end credits. That just grates the nerves).
3. The whitewater scene and the hippo attack. (as a kid watching this, I was wanting to be there experiencing it.).
4. Comedy; Joe Pantaliano and Tim Curry are pretty funny. Plus, classic deadpanning by Ernie Hudson (It's your leach. YOU get it off.).
It's not a great film by any means....but it's good enough to earn a slot on my DVD rack.
