Review of Congo (1972) by Alex K — 08 Nov 2009
Much like Anaconda, Congo is fairly special to me. It and Anaconda were the first R-rated movies I ever watched. Congo was much less memorable though. The plot of the movie was... I honestly can't remember.
I watched this movie a couple months ago to see if it was as good as I remembered (and I didn't remember much), and it wasn't. The gorillas looked horrible, the acting was sub-par all around, the sets in the jungle looked extremely artificial, and the movie wasn't scary.
The first 50 minutes of the movie just drones on and on, and all the while you're just waiting for a killer gorilla to pop up. When one finally does, you've been waiting so long that you don't even care anymore.
Congo is a bad movie. It shouldn't be watched by anybody old enough to comprehend the story.
