Review of Confessions of a Superhero (2007) by Mike K — 26 Feb 2008
Ever wonder how Superman gets that curl in his hair to stay there? Wonder no more. The answer? Tons and tons of hair spray. Well, at least that's how Christopher Dennis, a Christopher Reeve 'look-a-like', does it.
I put look-a-like in quotes because, well, let's face it, he doesn't look a lot like Reeve, he just resembles him. At least he looks more like Reeve than Maxwell Allen looks like George Clooney.
I think the honorary mayor of Hollywood sums up the movie best: he says that it's not a boulevard of broken dreams - he tells us that sometimes those dreams do come true in Hollywood. And every one of our superheroes believes they'll make it one day.
And the film leaves us believing that we haven't heard the last of these mild-mannered (except for Maximus) aspiring actors.
