Review of Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) by Richelle M — 25 Jan 2010
She's perky & has her charms. I know, a chic flick. but I read the books by sophie kinsella as a kid and the main character played by isla fisher reminds me that style and beauty can go hand-in-hand with brains and clever writing styles. rebecca bloomwood sounds more witty in the book. this movie also reminds me of something i've forgotten that my mum recently reminded me. that as a child, one of the careers I wanted to be in when I grew up was journalism (scientist, doctor, teacher among other things) to spread information about the world to others. so I can relate. when you get inspired by insight it is really something.
Anyways, I surprisingly got teary-eyed watching some scenes. my rationale is that I was sad during the times where rebecca lost the one she loved & her way of living is due to a) my hormones and b) I know what its like to lose someone you care about and not see them for a long time. this goes both for siblings & people you felt you may have missed a chance on developing something with. maybe distance makes the heart grow fonder, as the saying goes. a little cliche in some parts but that is to be expected. the movie after all, is about shopping addictions.
