Review of Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) by Kerry K — 10 Mar 2010
I don't know why I watch films based on books as they are NEVER as good and I end up just picking fault and comparing them! Also, I hate it when they change an English book into an American film, I think this film loses a lot of it's comic value due to this change.
Anyway, a cute little comedy with Isla Fisher playing a hopeless shopaholic. Not bad, but perhaps if I hadn't have already read the books I would have thought it was funnier. The characters are portrayed as being more stupid and foolish than they are in the book, you find yourself just getting annoyed with her for spending money she clearly doesn't have, wheras in the book you can see her logic and find yourself identifying with her more.
Sweet and light-hearted, but not one for the DVD collection.
