Review of Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) by Katherine C — 28 Mar 2010
Again, people expect too much from rom/coms. This is a tight enough piece of work, that makes the most from weak-ish material. Fisher puts in a good performance with more effort than a rom/com deserves, and the debt collector is as a good a supervillain as you'll find in any movie.
In the 21st century world of superficial, external, self-esteem endeavours over responsible, moral behaviour, this is yet another movie our kids should be forced to watch at school, before they enter the world of credit card handbag purchases that take 4-5 years to pay off. Many of life's most crucial messages are delivered simplistically in simple films - this is one!
