Review of Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009) by Gavin M — 28 Jul 2010
A true "chick flick". There are over half a dozen scenes that I did not relate to and felt like I could enjoy the film if I did relate to it. I think the problem is that the main character is a shopper and the jokes are from the shopper mentality. As apposed to "Devil Wears Prada" or "Nanny Diaries" where the character is also an outsider and I can relate to their point of view.
Isla Fisher is a solid physical comedy actress so I hope she can parlay this into something bigger and better.
Joan Cusack and John Goodman are always welcome.
