Review of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) by James T — 16 Sep 2008
This movie is quite enjoyable, its fairly fast-paced editing and story-telling style reminded me of Lord of War a bit. The story feels a bit muddled, but not enough to ruin the movie. I wasn't excpecting quite so many cameos either, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon appear for about 2 seconds, it was quite funny, I actually rewound it to see if it was indeed them. Overall, a nice film, done outside the confines of a specific genre, and also done with a definite sense of humour, yet one that doesn't ruin the serious moments.
BEST SCENE- Julia Roberts character thinks she has poisoned Sam Rockwell (playing the main character excellently, as usual) and he writhes around on the ground for a minute. She smiles and walks out of the room, then turns around and sees Sam standing in front of her. She realizes that he had switched their cups and that it was she who drank the poisoned tea. She collapses and writhes etc. Very slick..
