Review of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) by Sam S — 08 Aug 2012
Not caring much for Chuck Barris of the Gong Show made this movie less than appealing. However, I felt compelled to watch this one through to the end because of the mystery that was Chuck Barris. He was a game show genius, the one behind The Newly Wed Game, The Dating Game, The Gong Show (his least appealing) and a host of many others.
But just as Chuck was a game show creator, he struck me as a creator of fairy tales. His being a CIA agent and killing 37 people is about as believable as the Gong Show. This man was obscessed with himself and deeply deranged.
Get this movie and watch it alone. Come face to face with a sick mind. That was Chuck Barris in a nutshell.
The movie itself marks the directorial debut of George Clooney. I give him and A+ on this one and I will be looking for many other stellar movies from him.
