Review of Confessions of a Dangerous Mind (2002) by Stephen E — 17 Jul 2013
"Confessions of a Dangerous Mind" owes a lot of its style and visual luster to the combined genius of director George Clooney and cinematographer Newton Thomas Sigel. However, the film is less successful when it comes to telling an involving, coherent story.
The performances are all there, with Sam Rockwell proving yet again that he's one of the most reliable (and underused) actors of his generation, and it has an eccentric charm that carries it through some of the screenplay's pratfalls, but it overall isn't an incredibly engaging or well-told work.
