Concussion is a true story that depicts both the tragic and beautiful aspects of the American dream. Tragic, because scientific evidence was hidden, ridiculed and called "lies" by profit mongers.

A scenario that is all too common in our society. Beautiful, because one person with one reason, to simply do the right thing, never gave up and fought for the underdog. Dr. Omalu, a Nigerian American, first discovered CTE, a progressive degenerative disease of the brain, when performing an autopsy on a son of Pittsburgh, a Steeler's champion, Mike Webster.

CTE was then discovered in the brains of other NFL players who left this world early due to the disease. If you are a fan of football, science, medicine and/or the definition of the American dream--you must see Will Smith as Dr.

Omalu in Concussion. If your thoughts are provoked by Concussion, and you would like to learn more about Dr. Omalu and other medical professionals fighting to raise awareness about CTE, you can see Dr.

Omalu discuss this issue in the PBS documentary: League of Denial, The NFL's Concussion Crisis (available now on Netflix). It is a serious issue that football needs to address, and as CTE is studied more, cases of the disease have been discovered in high-school and college aged individuals.
