Review of Conan the Destroyer (1984) by James H — 31 Oct 2007
A terrible waste of the Conan name and the vision of Jon Milius' original film, this substandard sequel fails to recapture any of the dark brutality of the first film, and instead adopts a ridiculous campy tone remniscent of other derisive fantasy films made around the same time (Red Sonja, Krull).
Its effects, such as they are, are laughable (the rubber demon Conan battles in the underwhelming finale is particularly hilarious) and the films fails spectacularly on almost all levels. Even Arnie and Mako reunited can't hope to save this mess.
