Review of Conan the Barbarian (2011) by Sally S — 21 Jan 2012
All brawns with no brains acting - check. Naked women - check. Requisite sex scene - check. CGI-heavy backdrop to save on shooting in actual scenery - check. Ultra-violent gore - check. Leading woman says she's a monk, then proceeds to slay all those who gets in her way.
Leading woman says she not like one of Conan's whores, then proceeds to throw herself at him. With a line like " I live, I love, I slay, I am content" from the leading man, what can one expect except a nonsensical, silly film.
Based on audience review, this film isn't even a commercial success. Are boys still flocking to catch such mind-numbing cliches? Or is lazy Hollywood still too thick in dishing out the same 'ol same 'ol?
