Not an expert on most of the source material aside from the Busiek relaunch and various reprints, but an honorable attempt here I guess. Nispel isn't that great of a storyteller unfortunately. Mamoa was decent, he definitely wants the movie to work.
Ultimately, however, it doesn't.
