Review of Conan the Barbarian (2011) by Jason K — 12 Jul 2012
Truly an epic swords & sorcery movie...and more fitting of REH's work than any previous iteration that has come before it. Jason Momoa is Conan...he played the part with relish, and he nailed Conan spot on.
I'm saddened to see that so many people view the film in such a negative light. Arnold's Conan is a cult classic, but this film was what the real Conan was all about. It's too bad it bombed at the box office, because I would love to see this series continue.
It was beautifully shot, with great sets and costumes, as well as fantastic actors doing credible performances. From now on, when I think of Conan as I sit back and re-read REH, I will think of Jason Momoa as him.
My props to him for doing such a commendable take on Conan.
