Review of Conan the Barbarian (2011) by Philip J — 20 Nov 2013
The flattest 3D experience and one of the weakest movies of 2011. Although Rachel Nichols' performance is the standout aspect as the exotic Tamara, I can't say the same for the rest of the cast who are weak, they mumble inane dialogue throughout and Jason Momoa isn't a good enough actor frankly to hold his own movie.
The movie does get off to a decent start, from Conan being born to his childhood and then getting revenge on the people who murdered his father and destroyed his home village, but shortly after the film descends into a intensely violent bloody slasher, which at times is entertaining and for gore lovers it's ideal but then it gets boring very quickly.
The 3D is practically absent, depth is never evident and don't even get me started on pop out effects or immersion, even in 2D there is no viewer connection, Marcus Nispel's worst movie to date.
