Review of Conan O'Brien Can't Stop (2011) by Corey K — 16 Jul 2011
Its not just about who he is. If you look past who Conan O'Brien is and just see him as a man, it is a heart wrenching story of a man who has been robbed of purpose, of who he is, and how he must painfully remake himself and rebuild all he once had by doing things he had never done before.
This movie reveals that Conan O'Brien is the guy that must do something, that must be on, that must do. It's hardwired into him. For Conan, the level of stagnation that Leno and Letterman have reached would be utter Hell.
This movie shows that Conan must persue the different, the obsurd, the strange, because if he were to stick to safe comedy, like Leno's Jawalking or Letterman's top 10 list, it would destroy him.
He is like an eccentric artist, brooding and never satisfied with his own success. He needs an outlet, someway to channel his energy and present his ideas to the people. To rob him of that, in a way, is to kill him, because Conan O'Brien Can't Stop.
