Review of Con Air (1997) by Brad G — 19 May 2010
Still riding high from his Oscar Glory and just one year after Nicolas Cage made his deal with the devil (Jerry Bruckheimer and The Rock), the Hollywood Son of Krypton rushes back into the arms of his dark master in what has to be The Greatest Cornucopia of Preposterous Action Brilliance ever bombarded upon an unsuspecting popcorn audience.
Cage is army ranger turned justified convict Cameron Poe, the ultimate Christian Super Hero who proves the existence of God to his diabetic cellmate by single handily asskicking a whoâ??s who of rogues: John Malkovichâ??s Cyrus the Virus, Ving Rhamesâ?? Diamond Dog, Danny Trejoâ??s Johnny 23, Dave Chappelleâ??s Pinball, Nick Chinlundâ??s Billy Bedlam, MC Gaineyâ??s Swamp Thing, and Steve Buscemiâ??s Hannibal Lecterâ??uh, I mean Garland Greene.
This is one of the all time greats, people. Love it, live it, be it. VF.
