Review of Con Air (1997) by Jake C — 30 Aug 2018
Once you realize that this is as much a burlesque as it is a burly big budget blockbuster, once you clue in that it's less a thrill ride than a killer comedy, the explosives serving to bust your gut rather than blow you out of your seat, the movie really starts to soar.
Packed from head to tail with the best of the 90s chewing through tongue-in-cheek one liners with self-parodying glee, the movie makes no pretense to be anything other than a rip-roaring two hours of mayhem and mindlessness, a high-octane absurdity that might be called horse(power)play.
