Review of Complete Strangers (2020) by Ajax80 — 14 Dec 2020
This is one amazing thriller! I saw this was #1 on Amazon so I decided to give it a chance despite the LGBT label, but it turned out to be a psychological thriller, not much to do with gay issues, it could have easily been a boy girl situation without changing the premise, which is a breeze of fresh air for this type of films. It was definitely not what I expected.
It stars Pau Masó and Matthew Crawley, playing Robert and Hugo respectively, and they have amazing on screen chemistry. I have to say I don't watch much LGBT cinema unless it's top notch like Brokeback Mountain, Weekend, Frier Fall or Boy Erased to mention a few, but Complete Strangers surprisingly didn't disappoint. 9 out of 10 for this incredibly well written, charismatically played film, which is sure to become a cult classic.
