Review of Commando (1985) by Jahad R — 20 Dec 2009
All the performances in this film are utterly terrible, but so absurdly violent are the action scenes, you won't care. Schwarznegger's hilariously campy one liners (impales enemy on a steam pipe - "Let off some steam") literally reek of the foul smell of the synth-scored 1980s, and this film stands up as a testament to the days when action films didn't need giant robots fighting or Batmen fighting psycho-clowns: All you needed was an Austrian Bodybuilder with awful dialogue and an annoying female accomplice (Rae Dawn Chong, in a role that would ruin even the best actor's career) taking on a large South American army single handedly without ever needing to reload.
LET OFF SOME STEAM.
