Review of Coming to America (1988) by Hasib H — 01 Jun 2012

This was the magnum opus for both Eddie Murphy and John Landis. Considering the filmographies of both men, that is saying a lot. Unfortunately, it all goes down hill from here for Murphy since 1983-1988 was him at his certifiable peak and was possibly the 6 greatest years a comedic actor in Hollywood has ever had.

Anyways, this movie hits on every possible note. I also hold movies that have amazing replay value and/or the ability for me to watch the rest of the movie from any given point in very high regard.....and this movie is the epitome of those two factors. I still quote lines from this movie to this day as well and considering the fact that this movie came out in 1988, it may seem like I just emerged from a time capsule. Fun fact, I used to live across the street from where the McDowells was in Elmhurst, Queens.
