Review of Coming to America (1988) by Jacqueline S — 17 Feb 2013
Solid movie. I think I liked it better than Trading Places, but I'll have to reconsider that later. It's a little dated, but genial and exuberant. Eddie Murphy is excellent in this, very controlled.
Of course, the premise could have been used more constructively for satirical purposes, but in the end, this movie is funny, entertaining, and warm-hearted, qualities satire does not reliably deliver.
