Review of Coming to America (1988) by Alex M — 08 Apr 2013

Highly enjoyable movie with a relatievely young-AND funny Eddie Murphy in the title role. I miss these kinda of roles. There's just so many great moments, and overall a fun fish out of the water movie.

I like that John Landis doesn't take it so seriously, and is able to poke fun at NYC as much as he can. Something I can really relate with! It's the classic journey story and coming of age story as Eddie Murphy's prince character learns what life is really about, compared to his arranged and straightforward royal life back in his home country.

James Earl Jones, Arsenion Hall and John Amos are all incredibly funny in their supporting roles. And at the time I thought Shari Headley was such a beautiful fit for Eddie Murphy's prince character.
