Review of Coming In (2014) by Amanda C — 01 Jul 2015
Unbelievably attractive leads (both in looks and personality) cannot save Coming In from the horribly mysoginistic thread that runs through it. This film isn't particularly to men either as its gay protagonist and his gay friends are explained as being gay because they are disgusted by women.
It's slick and stylish, but leaves a bad taste in the mouth that all the glitz in the world can't cover up. The only place Coming In gets it right is in its treatment of bisexuality. This is the one place the film doesn't judge its characters for something that is an integral and unchangeable part of their makeup.
Too bad this courtesy couldn't be extended to everybody else gay, straight and female.
