Review of Comic Book Villains (2002) by Jeffrey L — 21 Jul 2008
This is a pretty unknown dark comedy staring some semi-big names. If you like dark crime comedies like Big Trouble, Death to Smoochy, and The Big Nothing, then this movie is for you. If you hate talky witty dialog-filled indy movies, then stay away. This is the Pulp Fiction of comic book movies as two competing comic book collectors try to stop the other from getting their hands on a comic collection worth millions before the other does.
The movie has enough witty banter, double-crossings, unexpected deaths and murders to make any fan of the genre happy.
Although, with those good things said, the acting is kind of bad at times. not always, but there are times it is. Also, the movie could have been tightened up a bit and had 10-15 minutes shaved off, easily, as the movie does kind of move at a snail's pace until the last 15 minutes.
