Review of Comet (2014) by Tony V — 22 Aug 2016
This movie managed to dig out all the old feelings that I thought I had buried and lay them right in front of me. Questions of what might have been, what It was and how it happened. Possibilities and alternatives.
A love story that acknowledges the randomness of life, that so many of us wish wasn't true. The past - a fixed work of art that cannot be changed. Connections that could have been made, so clear from the future.
We are all victims of this randomness and no matter how much we try to make sense of it and repeat it in our heads there is only one thing that is certain - time has passed and we have been changed. It is only the memories and the feelings that are left.
The feelings that we put at bay during the day, so that we can have some resemblance of life, pour in during those moments when we are all alone and overwhelm us and keep us asking - "What if?" Both the good and the bad have become part of us and we will keep them with us for the rest of our lives.
Nothing that we can do, can make us go back and relive and correct those moments and the only thing we are left with is the dreams. The sweet dreams that allow us to see the story that could have been.
