Review of Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers (2009) by Clayton K — 13 Nov 2011
I was initially skeptical about viewing the Joan Rivers' Roast, given how her recent fame revolves around red-carpet humour and superficial celebrity jokes. I was pleased to discover how well-ranged the comedy writing team were, especially as the grittier jokes continued into the program.
Griffin makes an excellent (albeit slightly annoying) roastmaster, although I always appreciate the usual Deus regulars (Ross, Geraldo, Gottfried, Cantone). I wasn't surprised to discover Tom Arnold err thrice during his set, while Carl Reiner proved how unfunny an old man who curses for cheap laughs can truly be.
