Review of Comedian (2002) by Saint M — 30 Dec 2004
Halloween was without a doubt one of the best slasher flicks ever. Its really set the pace now that Ive seen it for almost all that followed.
Comedian was a really cool look at Standup comedy and how hard it is. Ive always been a fan but lately Ive gotten much more into it and its inner workings. Its a really hard business to deal with and this movie portrays that. Its not even that funny aside from showing a few comedians short bits other than that just a look at a comedians life on the road and focusing on how material begins and how comics work really.
Touching the Void was a cool psuedo-documentary about 2 guys from England trying to climb the Siula Grande mountain in the Andes. They are the only 2 people to ever accomplish it and this has footage of them telling their tale that involves much trauma and near death as well as a re-enactment of the action.
The Life Aquatic was what seems like Wes Anderson's attempt to have alot of fun with a movie. While I think that it is a really cool movie it lacks some of the emotion that the others have at least until it starts to build towards the end of the movie. Its quirky like Wes Andersons movies usually are but it's still alot of fun. I really liked the stop motion animation and the color of the film.
