The main characters (Ann Hathway) dishonesty & alcoholism are catalysts that lead her relationships to be physically & mentally abusive. a lil bit of honesty would have saved her a lot of trouble.
I was banking on a redemptive character arc to present itself, but I ended up disliking all the charaters more & more as the movie dragged on.
