Review of Colossal (2017) by Yu K — 09 Apr 2017
Highly original concept in which to explore some of the more common personal and inter-personal relationship issues. With a tiny budget, this film delivers pretty believable Kaiju monsters and a partially destroyed city, while at the same time keeping everything on a very personal level.
The character arc for Hathaway is somewhat sterotypical, but it took something as big as a kaiju to snap her out of her self destructive mode. Sudeikis on the other hand has a much more interesting and complex character arc as he delves deeper into addiction and self destruction.
