Effortlessly blending the relative silliness of its premise with the seriousness of its slow-burn script, with career high performances from Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis, Colossal is an original and timely take on age-old characters.
Director Nacho Vigalondo shows that monster movies can, and should, be smarter, while at the same time demonstrating that melodrama deserves a fresh lens every once in awhile.
