Review of Colombiana (2011) by Emily Y — 30 Jan 2012
A sleek, vengeful, action flick with a bad-ass chick who seeks to avenge her parents death. I adore Zoe Saldana so enjoyed this movie knowing full well that it was going to have cheesy parts, unbelievable parts, and a limited story arch.
All those flaws aside, it was an fun movie filled with sleek assassin killing from start to finish. Every girl secretly (or not so secretly) wouldn't mind being this girl from time-to-time; not necessarily the killing part, but the bad-ass part.
:) Plenty of explosions, unpleasant ways to die, and manipulation of the FBI/CIA keep the movie moving quickly. Zoe does well to display the range of emotions that comes with harboring anger and revenge for a lifetime.
Bottom line: purely a fun action movie with a non-original plot and moments that may have you thinking 'Oh please, really?'.
